Logford
Immigration Centre
Changing power demands in a secure environment
Background
The Logford Immigration Centre near Heathrow needs to guarantee
the security of its electricity supply – to safeguard the
health and wellbeing of its residents.
We were appointed to this project through Skanska – with
a brief to design and install a plant room genset capable of
automatically synchronising with the mains.
What the client needed
As this was a new build – and because of space constraints – the
client asked us to design large parts of the plant room, and
not just the gensets.
The client initially asked us to install a 1250KVA genset, however,
the specification changed during the building process, and they
decided to bring in an extra 800KVA to power additional systems.
The Thistle Generators solution
We worked closely with a wide range of consultant to make this
project a success, including the switchboard engineers and the
utility company. This was particularly important, as the installation
would have to meet full G59 compliance standards.
Results
The two gensets are now in place, and capable of running all
the main essential systems in this sensitive location.
Logford Immigration Centre also asked us to supply a full maintenance
package – with 24/7 breakdown support handled by our own
specialist teams of operators and engineers. After all, peace
of mind is simply too important to outsource. |
